One Day, I Blew Away

1–2 minutes

To read

The hills kept getting taller but the farther I hiked the stronger my legs grew.

I thought I saw the shoreline once, though no one believed me.

It’s where I came from… but one day, I blew away.

It was terribly frightening, didn’t even know I was lost,

until the world became silent and I saw I was alone.

I could still hear the steady beat of the waves, rolling in and out,

every night when I fell asleep.

I spent my last night on a strangers floor.

I awoke early the next morning not because I wanted an early start,

but because the sun had risen an hour early that day.

I hiked till the sun balanced skillfully half way in the sky.

That’s when I saw it, the largest mountain I had ever seen.

Next thing I knew,

I was back to where I had always been.
